Biography

Anabel Aquino, known artistically as La Madrina, was born on June 12, 1999, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Her stage name emerged during her school years, where she was admired and respected by her peers, who nicknamed her "La Madrina" for her presence, leadership, and authenticity. From an early age, Anabel showed a strong inclination toward music. At just six years old, she asked for a microphone as a birthday gift, symbolically marking the beginning of her artistic journey. She began with rap, later transitioned into more commercial sounds, and eventually found a deep cultural connection in dembow. With a clear vision of her musical identity, La Madrina has collaborated with an outstanding range of producers, including Pikete Opacalo, Draco, Big Chris, AM the Ingenier, Leeyeidz, Lil World, True Colors, OG Destruyelo, Nítido en el Nintendo, LB Producer, AM Produciendo, and Fraga Produciendo. Although she has explored genres like trap, drill, and reggaeton — the latter being one of her key strengths — she is currently immersed in the production of her debut dembow album, which will feature surprise collaborations to be announced soon. She began creating music independently in 2018, initially as a form of personal expression. In 2022, she decided to pursue music professionally, refining her vocal and lyrical technique while focusing on elevating the artistic quality of her work. In 2023, she officially launched her music career and began working with her current manager, Amir Capriles — an attorney and representative with extensive experience in the international music industry. Currently, La Madrina is preparing to release her track “Take Take” in collaboration with Puyalo Pantera, a bold and innovative proposal within the urban genre. Beyond her musical talent, La Madrina is a multifaceted artist: she writes, conceptualizes, and often directs both her musical and visual productions. She also stands out in fashion, media, and dance, and is the creator of her own artistic image — further affirming her versatility and creative vision. With authenticity, determination, and a unique style, La Madrina represents a new generation of Dominican artists who are redefining the global urban music scene.
